HWC Welcomes Denee Berliner as new Site Coordinator

Homework Central is pleased to announce that Denee Berliner has become the new Site Coordinator of our Unitarian Universalists of San Mateo after school site.

Denee is well aware of Homework Central having previously tutored students for three years at UUSM with her son. During this time, Denee became familiar with our program and of the unique footprint of our UUSM location.

By way of professional background, Denee spent many years in the hotel and hospitality industry where she directed catering and convention services and managed teams of people. For the past few years, Denee has been a business owner and management consultant. Having served in several volunteer capacities, Denee has been looking for an opportunity to bring her professional and personal experiences together to support the needs of children through her leadership, ability to motivate others and her belief in encouraging students to perform to the very best of their ability.

HWC Welcomes Tricia Dell as new Interim Executive Director

We are very pleased to announce that Tricia Dell has joined Homework Central as Interim Executive Director effective August 16, 2017.

Since 2005, Tricia has served as a consultant and coach helping boards, executive staff, and volunteers with fundraising, strategic planning and relationship building.  Prior to that, she worked in program and executive positions of small and medium sized nonprofits.

Most importantly, Tricia cares deeply about our mission.  She has been a long time donor and advocate of Homework Central and is enthusiastic about working together to create the most stable platform possible for our next executive.

Among her responsibilities, Tricia will work with our board and staff to identify their most pressing needs and help identify an organizational strategy to set direction for the coming year.

Tricia’s contact information may be found at About Us/Staff on this website.

Genentech at Homework Central!

We are sending a special thank you to 25 employees of Genentech.  Last month, these hearty souls came to one of our after school sites and spent a morning assembling 100 school backpacks with supplies for our students.  We will give out the backpacks to our elementary school students upon their return to our program in the coming school year.  Thank you to all employees who participated and to Genentech for your continuing support of Homework Central.  We look forward to seeing you again in 2018!
