Tricia Dell, Executive Director
Tricia is a coach, strategist, and consultant helping nonprofit boards, executive staff, and volunteers strengthen their organizations through leadership and board development, donor communications, planning, and fundraising.
Prior to that she worked in program and executive positions of small and medium sized nonprofits in education, the arts, healthcare, youth development, and social services.
Since 2004, Tricia has served as a professional facilitator at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Her engagements include co-leading student groups in the popular Interpersonal Dynamics course and support groups for the Women in Management program.
She lives in El Granada with her husband and is an active volunteer on the Coastside. Most recently, she is working on a project that serves those struggling with homelessness.
Natashia Lopez-Gomez, Volunteer Coordinator
Natashia Lopez-Gomez joined Homework Central as our new Volunteer Coordinator. Natashia teaches Chicano/Latino Studies, Social Justice Poetry, and Documentary Film courses at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA. She completed her graduate work at Harvard University in 1994, earning her M.Ed. in Risk and Prevention Education. She obtained her B.A. in Chicano Studies from the University of California, Berkeley in 1992. She is the first in her family to graduate from college.
Natashia was raised in Portland, Oregon. Her mother, a single parent and an immigrant from Mexico, was a political activist. Natashia has fond memories of attending demonstrations, potlucks, and conferences where she learned from organizations such as the ACLU, the Tenants Union, and The American Friends Service Committee. Hearing keynote addresses from people such as Noam Chomsky and Rigoberta Menchú, inspired Natashia’s early activism.
Today, Natashia continues to serve her community through teaching and community service. She has worked at various government and community agencies including: The Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County, The Center for Juvenile and Criminal Justice, The San Francisco Victim/Witness Assistance Program, and as a Community Health Advocate. She served on the board of Samaritan House and is a volunteer parent mentor for Community Gatepath. She has organized Latino Leadership Conferences for NDNU students and teaches several community based learning courses. In 2009, the Women of Color in Action Network honored Natashia as an outstanding mentor.
Denee Berliner, Site Coordinator, San Mateo Park Students, Unitarian Universalists of San Mateo Site
Denee joins Homework Central after enjoying an extensive career as a business owner, a consultant and an executive who managed catering and convention services in marquee hotels throughout Northern California. As part of her career, Denee supervised, directed and motivated cross functional and cross cultural teams of professionals.
In addition to her professional experience, Denee has engaged in a number volunteer activities including serving as a tutor at our UUSM after school site for three years and serving as a member of the Board of Trustees at UUSM.
Denee brings together the totality of her professional and personal experience to support the needs of our students through her leadership, ability to motivate others and her belief in encouraging students to perform to the very best of their ability.
Charles Douglas, Site Coordinator, Baywood Students, San Mateo Park Elementary School
For over 13 years, Charles has been actively involved with Homework Central. His leadership and deep commitment to the education of students has been evidenced by his role as the Site Coordinator at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center. Many Homework Central graduates have returned yearly to thank Charles for providing them with a safe and rewarding learning environment. Charles has also heard from former high school Student Interns who once worked with Charles as tutors at the MLK site. He has always taken an active and encouraging role in helping these Student Interns to attend and graduate from college.
Charles completed his undergraduate education at the University of Northern Colorado. After graduation, he returned to Colorado Springs and began his teaching and coaching career at the high school he attended. After eight years, Charles moved his family to San Mateo to begin his new position at San Mateo High School as a mathematics instructor, guidance counselor, and wrestling coach. During his 33 year career working in the San Mateo Union High School District, Charles held positions as a teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal, District Office Administrator, and Principal of San Mateo High School. He retired from the District in 2000.
In Charles words, “I have proudly served as a Site Coordinator with the Homework Central Tutorial Program, working with third, fourth, and fifth grade students. My efforts have been to assist them to gain greater confidence, complete their homework assignments, make good decisions, learn to value education, and become responsible and productive young citizens.”
Linda Forsberg, Site Coordinator, Sunnybrae Students, Sunnybrae Elementary School
Linda enjoys working with children and helping them succeed in their goals. Linda is now in her seventh year at Homework Central as the Site Coordinator at Sunnybrae School.
Linda taught English as a Second Language for 27 years and worked as a Resource Specialist for three years in the Hillsborough School District. Concurrently, for 19 years, Linda also taught English as a Second Language in the evenings at the Adult School in San Mateo.
In her spare time, Linda enjoys gardening, spending time with her family, and being with her special little four-legged friend.
Windi Hazzard, Site Coordinator, San Mateo Park Students, San Mateo Park Elementary School
Windi joined Homework Central as our new Site Coordinator at San Mateo Park Elementary School. Windi Hazzard is originally from Eugene, Oregon. She graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts from the Department of Linguistics. During her undergraduate studies, she discovered her passion for language acquisition and teaching. In her final year at the University of Oregon, she earned a certificate in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching. While in Eugene, Windi taught English as a Second Language at a community center for a year and a half before moving to Costa Rica.
Over the course of four years of living in a small rural community in Central America, Windi taught English as a Foreign Language to students ranging from kindergarten to high school. In addition to in-class teaching, she assisted in administrative duties ranging from aiding the director to office management. While in Costa Rica, Windi also worked with a non-profit organization that provided English classes to the community.
In 2013, Windi moved back to the United States choosing the Bay Area as her home. Currently, she is in the process of completing her Master of Arts at the University of San Francisco in International and Multicultural Education.
Windi’s passions range around travel and academics. Every year, she has visits family in France and tries to discover at least one new city in the US. Academically, her interests focus on education policy and how to reform academic accountability in public schools.
